artist statement

Currently I am exploring gestural mark-making and colour with various media to invoke memories and suggest environments. I am also interested in reframing through reductive artmaking where I rework large pieces into progressively smaller works. In this process, new dimensions are born and the smallest gestures take on new significance. Artists who influence my latest work include Cy Twombly, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, and Jack Bush. You will also find on this site works that deal with specific issues, such as what it means to be Canadian.
